The Lacey City Council has proposed a new program termed “Building for Lacey’s Future” anchored by two new taxes. The council wants a one-tenth of one percent business and occupation tax and a five percent utility tax. The B&O tax will be used to fund street improvements and utility line extensions into the city’s central business core.
The utility tax will be used for construction of a new city hall and a library extension.
Two public hearings have been planed to solicit community response although these taxes can be implemented without a vote of the people.
