Lacey history this week 1995

December 16th, 2015 by Ken

Lacey Councilmember Nancy Peterson has let it be known that she has enough support on the Lacey City Council to become mayor when the council holds its election next month.   She will replace Jon Halvorson in the top spot.

Unlike Olympia and Tumwater, Lacey’s mayor is selected by the city council from among its members.   The selection can come at any time but every two years following a city election the city council reorganizes itself.

Peterson has confirmed that she has the needed four votes to become the city’s mayor and Halvorson has resigned himself to stepping back onto the council.
