Security a concern at construction sites

October 23rd, 2015 by Ken

Methheads and druggies are finding local school construction  sites convenient places to steal wiring, copper and tools.

The North Thurston school district has nearly $100 million dollars worth of new construction underway at several locations around the community – – and thieves have found their way to those sites.

Recently the construction site at Evergreen Forest Elementary was the victim, but district security was made aware, called the Lacey Police Department and the thieves were apprehended.

The school district has hired a security firm to keep an eye on all the district’s construction areas and some contractors at those sites have hired their own on-site security people.

While theft from construction sites isn’t just confined to Lacey schools, the district has responded with its own security staff as well as alarms of various types around those sites.  School officials say they work very closely with the Lacey Police Department and appreciate their quick response to any situation.
