Lacey Chamber seeks new executive director

January 25th, 2013 by Ken

The Board of Directors of the Lacey Chamber is gearing up its search committee to find a new executive director.

Current Director Tony Salas informed the board at its regular Wednesday meeting that he would be leaving his position on March 1, to join his wife in Mt. Vernon where she has taken a job.

“I love this job,” Salas said.  “But I just don’t want to go home to two dogs and no wife.”

Salas has been on the job about a year and a half and said his legacy was “Shop Lacey First” campaign.   “We don’t want people to just shop local, we want them to shop in Lacey.   Some of our best members aren’t headquartered in the city,” he said.

Salas will also be remembered for working with the City of Lacey to keep the July 3 fireworks.

Salas said he might stay on the job until the end of March if necessary for the board to find a new executive director.
