Lacey extends TCTV contract

The City of Lacey and TCTV have agreed on an extension of the current contract to provide television service to the city and city residents.

Under the agreement, the TCTV contract will be extended three months, while the city and the community television service negotiate a long term contract.

Under the extension the city will pay TCTV $21,575 for thee months of service.  That includes community access as well as broadcasting city council meetings.

During 2010, the city paid TCTV $85,000 for the service.

Money for the payment comes from the franchise fee paid for by Comcast to be the sold provider of cable service in Lacey.   The amount Comcast pays for that monopoly is about $550,000 per year.
