Lacey/fire district continue negotiations

Lacey Mayor Graeme Sackrison said the City of Lacey and Fire District 3 continue to negotiate a new contract and are meeting bi-weekly and sometimes weekly to hammer out a new agreement.

In the meantime the mayor said, the city was also going on a parallel track to create its own fire department if problems can’t be resolved.  “We’re talking with the district but our main concern is the citizens of Lacey,” Sackrison said.  “We’re going to do what’s in the best interests of our citizens.”

The mayor also sounded optimistic that talks between the two sides will bear some fruit.  “I’m confident that in a few weeks, we’ll reach agreement,” he said.
