Not all fireworks banned in Lacey

June 4th, 2009 by Ken

For two years now, the City of Lacey has had a ban on all fireworks within the city limits.  You can’t sell, buy or shoot off fireworks anywhere inside the city.

However, as with all absolutes, there are some exceptions.

Small fireworks are allowed.  And, what are small fireworks you ask.  It’s spelled out in the Lacey Municipal Code.  Small fireworks are defined as: snakes, glowworms, trick noise makers, party poppers, snappers or pop-its, paper caps, trick matches and other smaller devices.

The question arose because Fred Meyer is selling such devices and some people thought they were illegal.  They’re not.  Such devices as described above are still legal in the City of Lacey.
