Light at the end of the water tunnel
Lacey City Manager Greg Cuoio sees progress being made on Lacey’s search for more water rights. “We’re seeing light at the end of the tunnel as it relates to the Department of Ecology and water rights,” he told the council recently.
The City of Lacey has had 10 different applications for water rights before the Department of Ecology dating back to 1994. One of those has been dropped but nine are still pending.
Cuoio said that of the five highest priority requests, it looks like two will be approved this year and the other three by 2013.
“This will allow us to meet our current water needs,” Cuoio said.
