Where are they now – Vernon Stoner?

May 18th, 2008 by Ken

For most of the 1980’s, from 1981-1987, Vernon Stoner served as Lacey’s second city manager.  During that time, he served with two Lacey mayors – – Mark Brown and Kay Boyd.  The city built a new city hall and instituted a utilities tax during Stoner’s time as the city’s top administrator.

Stoner left Lacey to become the city manager of Saginaw, Michigan and eventually returned to the Northwest where he served as Vancouver, Washington’s city manager.  During that time, he hired former Lacey mayor Mark Brown as a lobbyist for the City of Vancouver.

Stoner later became the deputy chief executive of King County’s Regional Transit Authority and served for a time as the deputy director of operations for the State Department of Labor and Industries.

Stoner’s newest job is working for State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler as chief deputy.
