Greg Cuoio honored

The City of Lacey has a new park. Greg J. Cuoio Community Park was unveiled during the retirement party held for the Lacey City Manager Friday evening. Some 200 past and current community leaders were in attendance.

The 407-acre park was purchased recently by the city, at the urging of Cuoio. It’s often been touted as a unique community park. Aqusition of the park will hopefully allow the City of Lacey to gain new water rights, as the park protects several wetlands and small streams.

Cuoio received many accolades and thanks for his 24-years at the helm of the city. His retirement is effective at the end of this month.

The city has hired an executive search committee which is accepting applications for the city manager’s position until July 3. The Lacey City Council has scheduled two executive sessions during July to wean down the list and make its final selection. It’s not known if city residents will have an opportunity to participate in the selection.
