Pierce Boys and Girls Club close one branch

October 5th, 2009 by Ken

Pierce County has closed one branch of its Boys and Girls Club.   The south branch has been closed due to economic conditions and four staff have been let go.   The closure was an effort to absorb a $1 million dollar shortfall in operating revenue.

Because it had no permanent home, the branch, operating out of Gray Middle School,  served about a hundred kids, who will now be bused to the east county branch.

Meanwhile, A $14 million dollar  new facility, with 55,000 square feet of space is under construction and will open next year.
