Lacey history – this week 1969

August 2nd, 2016 by Ken

North Thurston school district officials were hopeful that a contract for construction of the new Olympic View Elementary School would be issued before the end of this month (August 1969).  A $650,000 bond issue , which might be used for the construction costs, drew only one bidder when it came up for sale.   School officials said that with the way the bond market had been fluctuating they were lucky to draw even one bid.

Applications for patrolman are now being accepted  at the Lacey Police Department.   Starting salary is $550 per month.

Charles McCann, the new president of the yet to be constructed Evergreen State College, told members of the Lacey Rotary Club that the new college would be innovative and different.
