Lacey history this week 1978

The City of Lacey’s appeal of a lawsuit regrading construction on Ruddell Road was denied and the city had to pay property owners $77,000 in water run-off damage from widening the road in 1973.

North Thurston school officials lost an appeal that holds in place the voter rejection of an $8.7 million dollar bond issue by just one vote.   The district and local citizens had appealed to Thurston County Superior Court that the Thurston County Canvasing Board had erred in allowing two NO votes that had come in after the cutoff date.   The court ruled in favor of the canvasing board and bond issue went down to defeat by one vote.
