Washington may decide president choice

March 3rd, 2016 by Ken

For the first time in memory, voters of Washington state may play a major role in selecting who the Republican candidate for president will be.   That’s the opinion of Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman.   She made those remarks on Coffee With Ken, Wednesday.

Washington’s Republicans have 41 delegates to the national convention.   Those will be selected in the May 24 primary election.  Normally, such a late date would not have been significant in the selection of a presidential candidate, but this year things are different.

“It’s very possible that no one has wrapped up the nomination by the election,”Wyman said.  “That means that not only will our votes count this year, but we may make the difference in the outcome.”

The former Thurston County Auditor was elected as Secretary of State in 2012 and is running for re-election.   She happens to be the only statewide Republican office-holder in the state.
