Lacey history this week 2006
Lacey officials announced this week that Cabelas would locate its first Washington store in the city’s Gateway area.
In order to land Cabelas the city had to agree on a number of expenditures including getting a state grant of $9.9 million. The city agreed to construct a public building with a cost of at least $6 million in the Gateway area. The city also agreed to sell bonds to pay for 1-5 interchange improvements by using the sales and property tax it receives from the project to pay off the bonds.
For its efforts and taxpayer money Lacey is suppose to get a store with an estimated value of $40 million and a payroll of about 600. Cabelas is expected to bring in about 5 million visitors and customers annually.
