Olympia City Council race begins

December 11th, 2015 by Ken

Dr. Karen Johnson – co-founder of the Black Alliance of Thurston County – has let it be known that she is a candidate for the Olympia City Council seat left vacant by the election of Cheryl Selby to the mayor’s position.  The city council will appoint someone to fill that vacant council seat.

Johnson does organizational planning work for the State of Washington and is an ordained minister.   She has a doctorate degree in urban planning.

She said that Olympia is a diamond in the rough and she wants to help polish the diamond.   The three areas she wants to focus on are – homelessness – downtown development – and public safety.

No date has been set for the council to make an appointment and they have yet to announce for candidates.
