County seeks volunteers to enforce plastic bag ban
With the assurance that the Lacey City Council will adopt a plastic bag ban next week, the county has already begun sending letters to businesses informing them of the ban.
It is also seeking volunteers to “educate” businesses about the ban.
Lacey’s adoption of the plastic bag ban was assured during a city council work session, when the council’s newest member Michael Steadman, joined with three other members to support passage of the ban at the council’s regular Thursday meeting next week.
Only Yelm and Tenino have refused to go along with the ban.
Enforcement of the ban is left up to local governments. The county is seeking volunteers to assist in that effort.
