Community college eyes downtown Lacey for expansion

August 6th, 2012 by Ken

Agents for South Puget Sound Community College have been eying property in downtown Lacey for expansion of the college.

In play is Rowe Six, a complex of five office buildings on Sixth Avenue in downtown Lacey. The buildings have sat empty for some time since the last state tenants moved out.

Those familiar with the site, say it would be the perfect location for the college, across the street from the Lacey Transit Center and near to retail outlets.

City officials say that the college has made no application for expansion as yet, but it’s early in the process.

South Puget Sound had planned to build a new facility in Hawks Prairie but that has been put on hold due to the current economic situation.
