Cuoio resigns from chamber board

October 28th, 2010 by Ken

Lacey City Manager Greg Cuoio has let it be known that he will resign from the Lacey Chamber Board of Directors.  He will be made an ex officio member of the chamber board, which means he will be able to participate in board discussions but will not be able to vote on chamber business.

Cuoio was elected to the board in September but came under pressure from some sources to resign.  Some thought that having the city manager on a business board didn’t make much sense.

Cuoio said he agreed to run for the board  after being approached by chamber board members and did so because he wanted to show city support for the Lacey business community.

He will formally tender his resignation at the November 18 board meeting.  It’s expected that the board will then appoint him as an ex officio member.

His replacement may well be  Ryan Betz from the Boys and Girls Club, who had the next most votes at the recent chamber election.   That decision will be made however, by the board.
