Outgoing council members honored
Nearly a dozen mayors, current mayors and former mayors were on hand Monday evening, to bid goodby and farewell to three ousted Lacey councilmembers.
The City of Lacey held a farewell reception for Graeme Sackrison, John Darby and Ann Burgman, all of whom lost a re-election bid in November’s General Election.
Scores of current and former city employees, managers of local governmental agencies and former and current mayors were on hand to toast to good times and bid the outgoing councilmembers a fond goodby.
On hand for the event were former Lacey mayors Karen Fraser, Bill Bush, Jon Halvorson, Nancy Peterson and Virgil Clarkson. Outgoing Tumwater mayor Ralph Osgood, former Olympia mayor Mark Foutch, current Olympia mayor Doug Mah and Yelm mayor Ron Harding were also on hand.
Each of the outgoing councilmembers was given a certificate touting their accomplishments and a plaque. Sackrison talked about his future and his interest in the environment. Burgman talked about her childhood and what gave her the varied interests she holds. Darby talked about his first time as a councilmember and how honored he was.
This isn’t quite the end for the three. They still have one more council meeting on Thursday, at which time it is expected that they will be given a number of gifts bearing the City of Lacey logo.
