What do we do now?

November 4th, 2009 by Ken

Congratulations to the Lacey firefighters union which put its money where its mouth is – – and won everything it fought for in the Lacey City Council elections.

Firefighters backed all three opponents of incumbent councilmembers and won all three races.  Taking office in January will be Ron Lawson, Cynthia Pratt and Andy Ryder.   Leaving office will be Graeme Sackrison, Ann Burgman and John Darby.

The firefighters spent a great deal of money, the exact amount unknown at this time, to win the battle.  They also put their bodies on the line and doorbelled most, if not all of the homes in Lacey.

What this means for the future of Lacey’s efforts to get its own fire department is yet to be understood.  We’ll know more in a few weeks.  But for now, the firefighters union can stand on the platform of victory and asked themselves “what do we do now?”
