Listening tour underway
New North Thurston Public Schools Superintendent Raj Manhas is on a listening tour of the district.
He’s met with staff and teachers, Lacey Mayor Graeme Sackrison and Lacey City Manager Greg Cuoio and other community leaders. He’s even met with members of the North Thurston School Board, two of whom, Aaron Owada and Chuck Namit are up for re-election although neither has drawn an opponent and both will be back on the board for another four years.
He’s held a half-day retreat with the board and hopes to have another one before school starts in the fall.
Manhas is charismatic, charming and likes to touch your arm to make a point. He’s the first outsider to head the county’s largest school district since Cliff Tyler three superintendents ago, who lasted a little more than a year.
It’s only a matter of time before the new superintendent will meet with you. All you have to do is call the district office at 412-4413 and set up a meeting.
