Lacey staff members retire

May 8th, 2009 by Ken

Two of the City of Lacey’s long time employees are set to retire in the next few weeks.

Finance Director Blaine Martin, has been with the city since 1984.  He has been the prime reason Lacey has not had any significant monetary problems.  He was also instrumental in seeing that the City of Lacey could grab the Public Facility District funds, from Olympia, and build the Regional Athletic Complex.

Parks Director Jim Sheler is retiring after having been with the city for 35 years.   When he took over, Lacey had two small parks.  Today, the city has a plethoria of parks and an active recreation department.

Replacements for both are currently being sought.
